A 2024 Nature paper reported a significant increase in vegetation cover on the Antarctic Peninsula, but this trend has been challenged by critics who question the reliability of satellite imagery due to cloud cover and poor resolution.
Researchers argue that the reported greening rate is theoretically impossible and that while vegetation cover is expected to increase with warming, it will likely do so at a more moderate pace.
