The Day

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven The Day tolled out, Unheard by those who Toiled wearily on Young and Old.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven Hold On! Screamed the Day. Unheard again by tired Soldiers who heard only their Own chant- Tomorrow,Tomorrow,Tomorrow Will be better.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven Your Better Tomorrow is Today Whispered the Day to the fallen, Who whispered back my Tomorrow Never came.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven You Made It through! Cheered The Day. Why me and not them? Survivors questioned Stony eyed.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven Their coming Home! The Day heard cheered Some turning quickly to wails As it was Remembered, Not all were returning Home,

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven What was the point? Why did we let them go? Were the questions most Commonly thrown.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven What a day to forget No Protested the Day What a Day to Remember.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven The Day we Remember The Fallen Hero’s and Sacrifices made for the better Tomorrow they never made.

Eleven,Eleven,Eleven

Poppies worn Proudly For we Remember and Thank those Unforgettable Heroes for Our Today.

FootNote: Unfortunately due to prior events I was unable to attend my local
Remembrance day service in order to pay my respects. And so decided to
honour the day and fallen by writing this poem.
